Mezzo-soprano Elaine Huckle has received acclaim from an early age, lauded for childhood performances of well-known liturgical works and solo recitals through adulthood. Her passion for singing developed at an early age, but was nearly derailed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Determined to maintain her career, Huckle found an inner strength to recover—TOWARD THE LIGHT is her celebration of her recovery, and a testament to her willpower to continue a vibrant singing career. CANTATA FOR THE CHILDREN OF TEREZIN, Mary Ann Joyce-Walter's debut release on Ravello Records, features two of her works for orchestra: Cantata for the Children of Terezin, featuring the Kiev Chamber Singers and soprano Oxnaya Oleskaya, and Acaldama. Using poems written by children incarcerated at the Terezin concentration camp during the second world war, Joyce-Walter composed the Cantata in order to evoke a universal compassion and empathy for the most innocent and vulnerable among us.

Richard Crosby's AN AMERICAN PORTRAIT was originally released in 1999, and features stellar works by Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Amy Beach, Lee Hoiby, William Grant Still, David Guion, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and George Gerswhin.

ESSAYS AND SKETCHES is an album unreleased works of American composer and longtime Sam Houston State University faculty member Newton D. Strandberg. Featuring performances by orchestras and ensembles from around the globe, the four pieces on this recording—Essay for String Orchestra, Amenhotep III, String Trio, and Acts for Orchestra—serve as an astute collection of Standberg's output as a composer. More than a musical release alone, ESSAYS AND SKETCHES serves as a retrospective of Strandberg's prolific career, housing a collection of writings, visual art, scores, and more, all compiled by Strandberg's peers, students, and admirers from SHSU.

TRAVELER’S TALE was originally released in 2007 and features on-disc performances by flutist/composer Byron Petty, pianist Shuko Watanabe, clarinetist Roger Quigley, hornist Wallace Easter, guitarist Robert Trent, trumpeter Chris Magee, organist Daniel Brinson, and violinists Mark Taylor and Janice Vincent.

Ravello Records is pleased to announce the release of JUBILUS & PANTOMIME, a full-length DVD performance of the works by internationally acclaimed composer Gheorghe Costinescu. Performed by The Ensemble Sospeso at New York City's Miller Theatre, this live recording presents two of Constinescu's celebrated works: Jubilus for soprano, trumpet, and percussive body sounds, an expression of physical and spiritual rejoicing hailed as "a work of enormous vitality and originality" (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette); and Pantomime for chamber orchestra, a choreographic work for fifteen musicians featuring movement dictated by musical patterns called "a ballet of gestures sustained by lively and deeply felt music" (Le Monde).

LYRIC IMAGES is a collection of guitar pieces written by composer Alan Schmitz over a period of 25 years (1977 to 2002). The works (presented here in reverse chronological order) display a variety of styles and include tonal variations, atonal-intervallic writing, and 12-tone techniques. The use of such different approaches, sometimes in the same piece, is indicative of what has developed in the works of many artists (musical, visual, poetic, dance) during the second half of the 20th century.

20TH CENTURY NEW MUSIC was originally released in 2006, and features works by William Albright, Mario Davidovsky, Bernard Rands, Noel Zahler, Michael Daughtery, and David K. Gompper, presented and performed by the University of Iowa Center for New Music.

A CONCERT OF MUSIC BY ALLEN BRINGS was originally released in 2008 and features stunning performances by pianists Allen Brings and Eric Huebner, soprano Jennifer Foster, the Atlantic String Quartet, Talujon, and Flexible Music.

CULTURE SAMPLES was originally released in 2008 and features the McCormick Percussion Group with flutists Kim McCormick and Margaret Lancaster performing works by Chihchun Chi-sun Lee, Andre Jolivet, Zack Browning, David Rogers, Daniel Adams, and Michael Sidney Timpson.

PRELUDES & BAGATELLES is the latest release from renowned composer Michael Matthews, featuring his dramatic 14 Preludes, selections from his collection of Bagatelles, and the epilogistic Postlude.
